Why choose Blogger as your first blogging platform?

Why choose Blogger ?

Hello there! My last post was all about WordPress and why it is one of the most popular blogging platform right now, if not the most popular one as in 2018. Since, blogger is not far behind, I think I owe Blogger at least one post where I would blabber about the pros and cons of Blogger later on in this post.

So, you know pretty much about Blogger, and now it's time to see it in a better light.

If you search anywhere, you'll see 90% of the answers screaming that WordPress is better than Blogger. To some extent I completely agree to that statement. But I get kinda offended when people say that Blogger is a bad blogging platform. It may not be as stupendous as WordPress but Blogger has it own perks. Hear me out before you start bashing me, and then tell me that I am wrong. Deal? Okay, great!

Why is Blogger good?

So, a newbie blogger with a little bit of urge to create a blog wants a platform to make his first ever blog heads to Blogger and he somehow manages to get a pretty good blog, there will be a lot of people who would suggest him how bad Blogger is for a blogger (which is ironic because of the name) and then out of peer pressure or confusion migrates to WordPress and that happens 11 out of 10 times and it is plain painful. I somehow feel insulted that the guy cannot even defend his own blogging platform and it is kind of a shame. So, let's see where Blogger scores:

1) It's Google :

If you know about the internet then the first thing that comes to your mind is Google, I mean there is even a phrase "just Google this/that.." which proves how big and important Google is for internet users like us. When you come to know that Blogger is a part of that Google, then it feels secure and safe, kind of. Although Google is infamous for shutting down services that a lot of users were still using, but if you look beyond that you'll get a great experience with Blogger and I can vouch for that.
Since it's Google, all you need is a Google account and you're already halfway there and with the ability to connect all your accounts it's a big plus for Blogger. Many of the extremely useful features for a blog is already offered by Google, like AdSense, AdWords, etc. and that helps a lot in everything.

2) Ease of use :

If you're a newbie blogger the first thing you're gonna look for is ease of use and I mean it's totally the right thing to do. I mean if you find blogging as hard as rocket science, you may be a bit disappointed, but with Blogger you are definitely going to feel like blogging is extremely easy. blog title, description, etc. you will get to be face to face with you creation, I mean your blog. That's it, you're a blogger from that time onward. I mean it when I say that nothing can beat Blogger with ease of use, nothing can even come close.
Signing up actually takes about a minute, yes a minute, allowing users to sign in with their Google account and after a few basic questions about

3) Effective Spam control :

WordPress has several free plugins which can control spam to some extent but the most effective ones are premium, that means you're expected to pay to use them. That is not the case in Blogger,
with it's built-in spam control can effectively take care of your spam comments and what not. So, this way, Google is saving your money, and please be grateful for that because that comes handy in the long run.

4) Backup :

When you're under the care of the largest internet company in the whole world, you'll get some special affection, and Google does keep it's word. You don't need to get your hands dirty doing stuff like backups, Google does that for you. Even if you want to backup your blog by yourself, it is too
easy, unlike WordPress. So that's an added benefit of associating with Google, and being a Blogger blogger 😉 .

5) Indexing :

Maybe because of Blogger's association with Google, or something else, but your posts will be very quickly indexed in search engines with Blogger, which is very very useful for a blogger because that somehow affects the inflow of traffic to your blog. You may not know how useful that is, but you'd be lagging behind if you have a breaking news blog and your post are not indexed for the next two days, then your breaking news won't attract that many viewers because they probably know the news already.

6) Huge Blogging Network :

Blogger is like the first stop for a huge majority of newbie bloggers, that makes Blogger have one of the largest blogging network in the whole web. Millions of blogs are already there in Blogger and it's very easy to just search a random blog in the search bar in Blogger. This may be useful to connect to bloggers and you can have a symbiotic relationship with other bloggers and get to learn a thing or two from them.

7) Free :

Everything that comes free of cost is highly appreciated by anybody, doesn't matter where you're from, and Blogger is totally free to use. That makes Blogger an ideal solution for someone who doesn't or can't get a domain name or web-hosting for his/her first blog. I know you can also get a free WordPress blog, but Blogger offers a host of features that WordPress doesn't, e.g. spam control plugin. You get everything for free- a domain name (although that looks a bit weird) , web hosting, lots of themes, and the list goes on and on. So the next time someone is preaching you about the greatness of WordPress, remind them that they paid for WordPress greatness and you are just using Blogger for free, that makes it great.

Those are the few reasons that make Blogger be the first stop for a newbie blogger, I mean you aren't investing a single penny and you won't loose anything if your blog fails. By the way, I tried to be as unbiased as I could, I mean my first blog was in Blogger and I have a soft-corner for Blogger inside my heart, and this is may be visible in my post. I apologize for that.

In the end, it's you who makes your blog become a success and not the blogging platform. Eventually it all boils down to your dedication, discipline and determination that will make you a great blogger and make you earn money too.

See you next time.
Please subscribe if you haven't already done it, share and please share the love.
Thanks for sitting through this boring lecture.
